Slow Grind Mix #55. It's got jazz, soul, doo wop, louisiana rockabilly, aussie garage and more, all slow and moody and sexy and just right for slow dancing. Send it to that someone on your mind and invite them to come dancing on Saturday night x
Our last slow dance party for the year, and our last mix to go with it. Some deep Georgia soul classics on side Pierre, some nice croony popcorn from our midnight guest Miss Goldie, and starting out on my side with a couple more recent releases that fit nicely into the slow grind bag. Hope it gets you where you need to go
More moody, sexy rockaballads and jazzy country and hammond groovers and Jackie testifying and Oscar Brown Jr singing the hell out of that one. Do with you you will, we'll see you on Saturday night x
This months mix features my favourite slow grinder from the new Jazz Party album that's not out for another couple weeks yet, an originally un-issued Little Bob & The Lollipops number you can find on their recent LP on Mississippi Records, the b-side of Jackie Shane's super rare final 45 you can get on the new box set of her complete recordings on Numero Records, some folk-blues from Odetta and a nod to the soon approaching spooky holiday via C.W. Stoneking's "The Zombie". Our midnight guest DJ Ladysoul brings some classic fingersnappers on her side, and side Pierre is all mid-sixties instrumentals! Enjoy x Richie1250
The passing of Charles Bradley made me reflect on how much I gotta cherish my favourite contemporary soul singers who are still alive and working, so my side this month is all recent-ish slow jams from people you can still look forward to seeing live if you lucky.
Plenty of the usual old gold on Side Shio Otani and Side Pierre Baroni too of course...
