It's that time again, as Melbourne's smokiest mid-century slow dance party SLOW GRIND FEVER presents another great leap forward into the lurid neon world of the 1980s with SLOW GRIND '80s #4: EROTIC SLOW JAMS 1977 - 1993, upstairs at The Tote. Our usual red lights will turn PURPLE as we pump up the smoke and grind to the sensual sounds of DJs Richie1250, Jeremy Spellacey (Crown Ruler) and MzRizk, with intermittent bedazzling performances from Genevieve Callaghan and Sneaky Sally.
Some notes about our guests...
JEREMY SPELLACEY runs the Crown Ruler label / shop / touring company, works curating and licensing releases for the esteemed London based Soundway Label, and in 2017 compiled the rightly lauded "Crown Ruler Sound" compilation for Spacetalk records. He essentially specializes in all kinds of esoteric, groovy records from exactly our chosen period, and we can't wait to hear what he brings to the party.
MZRIZK is a name the party people trust and a deep lover of the 80s slow jam. She played a killer set at Slow Grind 80s #2 and we are stoked to have her back to do it again.
GENEVIEVE CALLAGHAN performs mesmirising, multilayered accapella music under the name HERO. For this evening she'll be joined by tenor saxophonist Dandelion Jackson (Sugar Fed Leopards) to take some classic 80s jams into deep, slow grindy places....
SNEAKY SALLY is a detective. A twin-peaksy kind of detective. She knows many things. Things about you.
NOTE: Tickets for this party are limited to 100. All the previous Slow Grind 80s parties have sold out and this is the smallest venue we've had one in, so if you wanna come, don't play yourself...

FURTHER NOTES:
- There will be a smoke machine going all night and it will get very smokey. The smoke is non-toxic but if you ain't into smoke machines this might not be the party for you...
- There are no phones on the dance floor at Slow Grind Fever parties. If you need to check your phone, go over by the bar or get some fresh air and then put it back in your bag.
- The vibe of the night is very hazy and sexy, but the vibe is also about having good manners. Don't touch anybody without getting their permission first, and don't be all up in someone's personal space if they aren't inviting you.
